Sadie Gustafson Zook and Ethan Setiawan are two Goshen natives and frequent collaborators. The two were both involved in the band Theory Expats, who played at the 2015 Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, KS. In this new duo, Ethan’s jazz, bluegrass and contemporary classical influences blend with Sadie’s pop and oldtime roots. Sadie is a seasoned performer, having performed across the United States and Europe for over 15 years. She’s comfortable in many styles and competent on fiddle, guitar and vocals. In 2010 she released her first album, Mélange. In 2011 Sadie won the New Song Showcase songwriting competition at the Walnut Valley Festival. Ethan is a mandolinist from Goshen, Indiana. He’s been selected for Savannah Music Festival’s Acoustic Music Seminar twice, was awarded a full ride scholarship to Berklee College of Music, performed on NPR syndicate Prairie Home Companion and won the 2014 National Mandolin Championship, all before his eighteenth birthday. Ethan is now studying at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. With a grand assortment of mandolin, guitars, banjo and fiddle, the two are exploring the jazz, pop, folk and singer-songwriter worlds through their own distinct lenses.
