Short Films Screening

Short Films Screening

$10 tickets available at the door

Mid America Filmmakers is hosting two repeat screenings of award-winning short films created by its members at the Goshen Art House on Saturday, October 7th at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Each screening is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.

All the films were shot in the Michiana area primarily with local talent. Seven of the films were created by members of M.A.F.’s screenwriters group as part of an annual $100 Movie Contest. Five-page script are written based on a theme and read before an audience, who then vote on which one should be made into a short film. Several of the winners include “The Legendary Job of Lizzie Borden” by Debbie McMillian, “Chuckles” by Rob Buck, “Sherlock Holmes: The Case of the Sexy Vampire” by Barbara Devereaux and “Doug Unhitched” by Trisha Miller.

The award-winning short film “Bride of Frankie” is a recent release by M.A.F. alumnus Devi Snively and has been accepted into over 50 film festivals worldwide. The film’s description states: “In this feminist nod to Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’, a not-so-mad scientist builds a mate for her mentor’s lonely creature with electrifying, and deadly, results.”

In total, eleven short films and two promotional videos will be exhibited, which also include: “Love Bites” by David Boyer, “Santa Muerte” by Tim Richardson and Michael Kouroubetes, “Chicago Dick” by Dave Orvis, “Snow White and the Gamble” by Rose Waldschmidt, “Train Stop” by Matthew Kowalski and Michael Kouroubetes, “Pinocchio’s Drone” by Joel Thompson, a trailer for “Vulassic Park” and a M.A.F. promotional video. Some films may contain mature language and themes.
